Moving up quickly: Schmitt + Sohn enjoys independence thanks to product configuration
Lift manufacturer Schmitt + Sohn supplies around 1,400 lift systems a year. A major strength of the Nuremberg company is the customised design of its elevator cabins. Schmitt + Sohn relies on ACATEC technology to manage its product range with many variant options effectively. The Franconian manufacturer uses almost all speedmaxx product modules for its individual elevator cabins.
Why did they choose ACATEC?
Keywords include independence and flexibility with regard to set-up and maintenance. The ability to program independently and to customise the system were the deciding factors for ACATEC as service provider. The lift manufacturer has significantly optimised order-specific engineering – from several days down to a few hours.
Production scheduling in particular has been largely automated using the Navision ERP system and the Autodesk Inventor 3D CAD system. "This guarantees consistent quality for the product documents and bills of material generated for each specific order along with the assemblies, parts, drawings and geometries for laser processing," explains Schmitt + Sohn Managing Partner Martin Schmitt enthusiastically.
Simple verification of data quality
Errors are noticed immediately thanks to the automated business processes and can be remedied straightaway. That, too, was an important feature for management.
“All in all, with its configuration solution ACATEC has enabled us to speed up the engineering process for elevator cabins by a factor of five,” Martin Schmitt sums up.
